apply to our fall market! 〰️

Hi y’all! We have some *big news*!!!

It’s been a little quiet around here while we’ve been very busy behind the scenes securing the future of the Indie Craft Experience. We’re very happy to announce that the business has a new owner!!

Y’all please meet Liz Roberts. Hooray!! Liz
@buffaliz716 hails from Buffalo, NY (so this might be the end of the use of “y’all” in these posts, haha!). She’s been an ATLien since 2006. Liz loves to cross stitch and sew, and she loves vintage, especially clothes from the 60s/70s era and the 1990s.

Liz worked for Rye Restaurants
@ryerestaurants for many years and opened one of our favorite restaurants, @thegeneralmuir , where she was the GM. She went on to work for the restaurant group as Director of Operations and COO.

Liz is very excited about taking the Indie Craft Experience into the future, and looks forward to meeting all of you!!

We met up at
@elmyr_atl this afternoon to finalize some details of the business transfer. We picked Elmyr because that’s where we first came up with the name “Indie Craft Experience” and started planning our first event waaaaay back in January 2005!!

Shannon and I will be helping with the transition as Liz gets all up and running. And guess what? We have some dates for you to save. Applications will launch soon so stay tuned. It’s going to be a busy Fall!

⭐️Fall Market: September 17 at Yaarab Temple Ballroom

⭐️Holiday Market: November 5 at Yaarab Temple Activities Building

⭐️Holiday Shopping Spectacular: December 2-3 at the Georgia Freight Depot

We’re so excited about Liz and her enthusiasm!! And feel very confident that the future of the Indie Craft Experience is in the best hands. Please welcome Liz!!! 💕💕💕

The Future of the Indie Craft Experience
⭐🌺🌿💓

To our lovely Indie Craft Experience vendors, customers, volunteers, partners, followers, and community:

Hello!

You’ve probably noticed that we haven’t posted information about a 2023 spring or summer market yet. After a lot of deliberation, we’ve decided it’s time for us to step away from the Indie Craft Experience in order to pursue other creative projects. We’ve had 18 wonderful years of producing craft and vintage markets here in Atlanta. It’s been a lot of work, but more importantly, it’s been a lot of fun!

We think there’s still a need for the Indie Craft Experience in Atlanta, and there’s always room for more opportunities for creatives. We hope to pass the baton to a dedicated person or organization who is as passionate about creativity as we are. Is that you? Or a friend of yours?

We’re selling the Indie Craft Experience and are accepting offers this spring. We hope to have a buyer in place in time for them to produce amazing fall/holiday markets.

We started the Indie Craft Experience in 2005 with the short-term goal of hosting one craft market. On the patio of Elmyr in Little Five Points, we came up with our name and started planning. That June, we held our first event at Eyedrum, hoping to draw 100 people. But thanks to an article by Felicia Feaster that landed on the cover of Creative Loafing, we welcomed a crowd of 800! Wow! Some might remember that night as the hottest ever. (We definitely pushed the limits of Eyedrum’s HVAC system.) It was an epic first event that we’ll never forget!!! Because it was so successful, we realized Atlanta had a need we could fulfill. We knew a lot of people didn’t fit the aesthetic of the other markets here, and we wanted to provide a space and opportunity for them. So we started planning a holiday market for December 2005, and then we just kept going, and now somehow it’s 2023!

Our goal from the beginning was to provide opportunity to artists and crafters. We hosted markets at Eyedrum, The Defoors Center, The B Complex, Centennial Olympic Park, Georgia World Congress Center, The Georgia Freight Depot, Yaarab Temple, Uptown Atlanta on The Lawn, Uptown Atlanta in The Atrium, The Works, East Atlanta Farmers Market, Sweet Auburn Curb Market, The Hudgens Center for Art & Learning, Ambient Plus, Young Blood Gallery, The Home Depot Backyard, the High Museum of Art, the Margaret Mitchell House, Colony Square, and more. We’ve hosted pop-up shops at the Woodruff Arts Center, Criminal Records, Sweet Auburn Curb Market, and 1390 McLendon Ave. We’ve been involved with Flux Night, Little Five Arts Alive, First Fridays at the High Museum of Art, Art on the Beltline, and more. At our studio (1390 McLendon Ave) in Candler Park we hosted workshops, Art & Craft Night, Manifestation Nights, summer camps, mini-markets, and more.

We love Atlanta, and it’s been so great being part of the creative scene here in our awesome city! It’s been an honor to meet and work with so many talented people, many of whom have become friends. It’s also been so satisfying to connect emerging vendors with customers, and to  watch shoppers find the perfect gifts.

We’d love to see this special business continue to flourish under new ownership. If you’re interested in making an offer and/or learning more about the process, please get in touch! Serious inquiries can be sent to craft @ ice-atlanta.com with BUY INDIE CRAFT EXPERIENCE in the subject line. Make sure you tell us why you’d like to buy the business.

Thank you for 18 wonderful years. We wish you all the best!

Xoxo,
Christy & Shannon
